I’d love to feature your work on Spare The Details; so if the site’s ethos fits in with yours, then please do submit to me. Read on for some more details…

What I’m Looking For

Real weddings, real moments, and everything that entails. Spare The Details is all about people, not the details; whereas many other blogs will only accept detail-heavy submissions, I don’t mind if I don’t see a single one in your wedding. Of course, it doesn’t mean that I won’t include a detail shot if your wedding is accepted; it just means that, should your wedding be featured here, at least 95% of your images will be of moments and people, rather than the details.

Not just Full Weddings

Although I’d love to feature an entire wedding, I’d also love to showcase single images within a frequent ‘Image Of The Day’ feature – so feel free to send me both longer submissions, and single photos.

Exclusivity Isn’t Important

I understand how wedding blogs want exclusivity with their submissions, and I understand how you, as a photographer, want to make the most from each feature – so I’m not asking for exclusivity here. Feel free to send me anything that’s been featured elsewhere. The way I look at it is that you’ll hopefully be sending me lots of images that wouldn’t have really been used by the other detail-heavy blogs, anyway, so the feature on Spare The Details will be still be unique. Oh, the only thing I do ask, though, is for the accompanyng text to be different.

Information, but not lengthy questionnaires

As the site’s all about people and photography, rather than here to give brides inspiration for their various details, I don’t have a lengthy questionnaire for your couples to fill in. I welcome you, as the photographer, telling me as much info as you can/want to about the day, but please let this info be about the couple; the events; the moments – rather than where the bride’s shoes were bought from.

All sound good? Then please submit!

For a full wedding, in the first instance, please either email me a link to a blog post on your site (or another blog’s if it’s up there and not on yours yet). It doesn’t matter if the post already features a lot of details, as it’s only if accepted on here that the details will be stripped! Or send me 10 – 15 images, 676 px wide, Saved For Web quality, with a small description of the wedding (i.e. where/when and a sentence or two about it). If accepted, I’ll get back to you regarding obtaining around 30 – 70 images to really showcase their day (using dropbox to send/receive the files).

For an ‘Image of the Day’ submission, then please just email me up to 10 images, 676px wide, Saved For Web, with descriptions for each image.

I like black & white as well as colour, and prefer un-watermarked images, but if you insist, then please make them small. You must own the copyright to the photos, of course, but that goes without saying, really, doesn’t it? Although I’ve just said it… whoops…

Submit to (Yep, Alan’s my name, by the way!)

I’ll get back to you pronto, and, if used, then you’ll get links back to your website and any social media profiles, too. If submitting whole weddings, then I may use single images from your wedding as an Image of the Day, too – each time including your links if used.
